Responsibilities of CAWS Board Members
All Board Members should:
- Be experienced in the understanding of IB Program Standards and Practices
- Attend at least 2 of 3 annual board meetings
- Contact local schools to promote CAWS events and build relationships with CAWS
- Assist at CAWS events
- Serve on ad hoc committees and complete action plan items as needed outside of scheduled board meetings
- Each member of the Board is expected to dedicate a minimum of 8-10 hours per quarter to board-related duties and CAWS responsibilities outside of scheduled board meetings
- Vote on board motions
- Engage in timely communication with all board members
- Communicate information to member schools within your region:
- Events
- Legislative action
- CAWS’ mission, vision, and goals
- CAWS’ services
- When a board member’s term expires or they resign, commit to helping onboard the replacing board member.
PYP and MYP Representatives Job Descriptions
- Advises Board on PYP, MYP, and DP advocacy
- Serve as resource for PYP/MYP/DP programmes throughout the state
- Fulfill all responsibilities outlined in the general board member description, including supporting the organization's mission and actively participating in board activities.
The position of PYP Representative will officially commence immediately upon selection by the board. The position of MYP Representative will officially commence at the CAWS 2025 Fall Board Meeting. Each new board member will need to complete onboard training at a time to be arranged prior to attending the virtual CAWS Board Meeting on August 16, 2025. The MYP Representative will be a non-voting board member at the August meeting.
